Marketing Underground House Music

Started by Roberto Reyes. Last reply by strokeswag May 16. 3 Replies

It seems that most if not all production of house music (underground) must be associated with a dj. With the turn of the technological advances, many djs turned producers are now being associated as such: Producers. To me, they are not the same no matter how you cut it. A dj (back in the days) was a talented and crafty individual that blended, mixed and communicated with the dance crowd. They'd use vinyl records and actually needed to do their sets right there on the fly. Nowadays, ANYONE can be a dj AND a producer (based on the digital era)... but still, a producer ( a true and real musically gifted producer) knows sounds, instruments, vocal textures and a number of technical factors that truly relate to the heart and soul of humans. Why? Because there is SOUL and SPIRIT in music. Why would a true dancer musician or singer allow their God given platform and talent to be eclipsed by a substitute?...  Yes ... a dj can be a producer and a producer can be a dj... but they are both TWO separate levels of the stage. Yes.. they can be conjoined.. much like an actor can be a director.. but both crafts have different disciplines. So, how does a producer that is not a dj market their work in the retail world if not in the club behind the djs booth?Continue
