Permalink Reply by Black Attraction on February 13, 2012 at 11:32pm I gotta say NO. I'm thirty, but have been lifting for ten years and most of the time when growth halts, a platue is to blame.
Invest in some more weight lifting books and thumb through them; revamp your routine. If you've been on the same tried and true diet for ten years, change it too. Our bodies naturally resist change. It is called homeostasis (notice not heterostasis, but that is a much deeper conversation). You have to almost trick it into thinking you aren't trying to get it to change. To it, you'd be perfectly ok half your size, your system would have an easier time of managing you at that size. I always thought it that your body has to process all that food when you are big and all the chemicals you add, and it has to repair all of the muscles you tear up and injuries you suffer; naturally, if it catches on to what you're doing, it stops - meaning, of course it can maintain and build as you age.
Permalink Reply by zarathustra on February 13, 2012 at 11:42pm Absolutely not true. I know of some guys in their late 60's who work out.how ever I am not sure if it is to maintain what they already have or weather it is to gain more muscle. But worry not if it is keeping u trim and healthy at an advanced age go for it my friend.
PS Us oldies have to stick together.
Sincerely
zarathustra
It does slow down considerably. There are natural and unnatural supplements to help with this but it is just fact of aging. It is more noticeable in some people than others but your body stops producing human growth hormone naturally and that is when mass starts to go. No need to panic. You can still look good you just learn to adjust your workout and your supplements
Permalink Reply by rockmusl on May 9, 2012 at 4:00am You've hit a plateau. Yes, it's harder to acquire muscle the older you get, and it's harder to keep lean. But at 52, I'm still gaining, thanks to hard work, a protein-rich diet, and a brilliant trainer who loves training older men especially. Now, if I could just cut down on the baked goods....
I got back to the gym when I retired at 65... I had stopped training in my 40's because I pulled my back (not weights but when pruning a tree !! ) when my doctor said "No more weights with your old bones" I found a real hyard-core gym (Muscle-FX, in Croydon)... great set of guys working out with time for an oldie like me. I grew like a weed, bigger than I had ever been before (for years my weight was 160lbs but I eventually touched 188lbs) and did my first ever show at 67 and three quarters The experience was mind-blowing and |I was on a pink cloud for weeks afterwards. I'm still working out at 78 but soon get out of puff. I've certainly lost muscle, evening out at 172lbs... now, it's training to keep what I've got. So, in your 40's and 50's... ?? The sky's the limit, surely. Good luck.

Just the fact that everyone here loves muscles, or reading the discussion about grinding or seeing the pics put up by abpuncher tells me that many guys here have fetishes. My fetish is feet, I love manly brothas with nice feet. The pics that grab me the most are the ones with the muscular brothas who are barefooted. I find also that muscles and muscle play(erotic wrestling, ab punching and muscle worship) are major turn ons. So gentlemen, what are you fetishes?

I know this site is about "bigblkmuscles" and everything, but is there such a thing as TOO big.? Like for example, I feel like bodybuilder type men are nice to look at. However, some of them are WAY too big for my tastes and I know their muscles would be all hard and whatnot. What's your take on this.?Continue

I have been an avid gym bunny for many years. And, I have managed to maintain a good physique. But,as a man in my mid 40's now I am finding it more difficult to increase my muscle mass. Has anyone else experienced this? I have even heard that men in their 50's stop acquiring muslce altogether. Is this true?

i want to build muscle mass in my upper inner thighs. Here's why. The bigger the upper inner thighs, the more the family jewels get pushed up and out in front because there's no room for them to dangle between legs bulked up in this area. Looking at an anatomy chart, i think the strategic muscle that would need development and mass is called the gracilis. Any suggestions on how to build great upper inner thighs in order to present what's between them?Continue

What's up fella's. I Just wanted to get a conversation started about the 2009 Mr. Olympia. Do anyone have any plans to go out to Las Vegas for the event? I am in the process of trying to get a group of at least 8 people to go. I know the economy is bad and this trip might not be in your budget. But with 8 of us meeting up out there, we could all split cost on the hotel rooms and rental car. If anybody in the DC/MD/VA area has serious thoughts about going, let me know so we can discuss it further. This does not rule out anybody else in other cities who might be going but looking for someone to help split cost. If you have not been to a MR. O event, let me tell you it is an incredible weekend. So anyone want to predict who will win the MR. O. My prediction is Dexter Jackson will retain his crown for at least one more year. IIGHT fellas holla at me, I need some traveling buddies for the MR. O last weekend in September. Google 2009 Mr Olympia Weekend........... for details of events and times
