I have been an avid gym bunny for many years. And, I have managed to maintain a good physique. But,as a man in my mid 40's now I am finding it more difficult to increase my muscle mass. Has anyone else experienced this? I have even heard that men in their 50's stop acquiring muslce altogether. Is this true?

To build or maintain muscle the body must have nutrition. Forty odd years constantly consuming processed foods such as bread, pasta, rice, corn, flour and sugar all of which carry few nutrients depletes the body. Meat, milk and butter provide animal protein and saturated fat loaded with chemicals. All cultivated produce carries reduced nutrients because the growing soil is fertilized with nitrates and chemicals. To build or maintain muscle you must reverse the nutritional depletion we all experience with age from our poor diets:

1) Buy a juicer and use it every day
2) Stop over cooking food
3) Buy only meat not feed grain and without steroids, hormones, insulin and antibiotics
4) Add a green whole food nutritional supplement to your diet everyday
5) Dramatically increase your intake of organic raw fruits and vegetables
6) Eat more beets, yams, apples, lemons, garlic, collards (any dark green leafy plant), mushrooms, grapefruit, onions, raw nuts and broccoli
7) Men should ingest a prostate stimulant to increase testosterone production (saw palmetto, wild yam root, damiana and yohimbe all combined)

I should have added in the initial discussion that my protein intake is excellent per day, (200 g's or better) and my MD gives me high dose testosterone shots every 2 weeks. My protein consists of whole eggs, egg whites, chicken breasts, lean roast beef, and whey protein powders TWICE a day. I love collards, spinach, yams, and fresh fruits. I eat no man made fats such as mayo, or white flours. All of my exercise routines are 4 sets per exercise, and I'm lifting fairly heavy. You have no idea how frustrating my lack of mass is to me. At 6ft, and 215 lbs I should be a mass monster by now. Any other suggestions short of juicing?

Whey is a cheap milk byproduct; replace some of that animal protein from cows, chickens and eggs with beans, peas and wild vertebrate fish. Injecting testosterone can never be as productive as allowing the prostate to do its job. If you enjoy your health, juicing is not an option. Whatever you are doing now is not giving you the results you seek so you should question your methods.

well i'm not in my 40's but i know as u get older ur testosterone falls. So i read in Muscle and Fitness that the herb Tribulus is a good natural way to up ur Test and help increase muscle. On the real i take it and I'm 30 and it has help with a high protein diet help me pack on 10 lbs of muscle in like 2 months. Also i going to try the new supplement for Muscle Tech named Cryotest cause I use to use Gakic and that helped so i'll let u know but check the Tribulus

not alltogether true, but close. as testosterone levels decrease with age, muscle gets harder to maintain. add recovery time to the mix and it's difficult. naturally, bodies maintaing lots of muscle over a long time have great memories. but it's still hard to make gains at 40, unless zero mistakes are made and supps rotated regularly.
It's not true that men in their 50's stop acquiring muscle. About two years ago i hired a certified trainer to help me gain muscle mass. i was tired of hearing other guys at the bars complaining about not "getting any," as they sat on their fat asses and jugged another beer. i was tired of seeing my body losing muscle mass and becoming quite unappealing, so i decided to go all out. i'm at the gym now 4-5x/wk, and i've put on inches of muscle -- biceps, chest, thighs -- all over! Of course, i'm taking a lot of protein too. i'm stronger too, but my goal was really to focus on building muscle mass.
The big bro was right. Change your diet and you should see results. Remember that your muscles won't be as full & hard as 20-year olds but you'll still gain strength & mass.
i hope not since i plan to be there in about 10 years, keep doin what you do though brother, i hear any exercise is better than none.
I think it is, at least it is my case, actually I have lost 5kg (10lbs) along the years. I have tried everything, growth hormone, roids, different kind of protein, but I think it has to do with age and your genes, I have met at least two fellows who seem to be the exception and I have seen them working out and they do average routines, they don´t take anything special and they are big. so it is age and your genes.

Just the fact that everyone here loves muscles, or reading the discussion about grinding or seeing the pics put up by abpuncher tells me that many guys here have fetishes. My fetish is feet, I love manly brothas with nice feet. The pics that grab me the most are the ones with the muscular brothas who are barefooted. I find also that muscles and muscle play(erotic wrestling, ab punching and muscle worship) are major turn ons. So gentlemen, what are you fetishes?

training for the upper inner thighs and groin

The bigger the upper inner thighs, the more the family jewels get pushed up and out in front because there's no room for them to dangle between legs bulked up in this area. What's up fella's. I Just wanted to get a conversation started about the 2009 Mr. Olympia. Do anyone have any plans to go out to Las Vegas for the event? I am in the process of trying to get a group of at least 8 people to go. I know the economy is bad and this trip might not be in your budget. But with 8 of us meeting up out there, we could all split cost on the hotel rooms and rental car. If anybody in the DC/MD/VA area has serious thoughts about going, let me know so we can discuss it further. This does not rule out anybody else in other cities who might be going but looking for someone to help split cost. If you have not been to a MR. O event, let me tell you it is an incredible weekend.
